Xueling Chen is a visual artist and photographer working across London and China. Previously active as an independent fashion photographer in Shanghai, she is currently enrolled in the MA Fashion Image program at Central Saint Martins. Her practice draws from personal life experiences, navigating between private and public spheres to explore the intricate relationships between urban nomadism, feminine identity, and spatial psychology through photographic storytelling.
Since 2017, she has developed a body of work examining wandering, emotional memory, and intimacy among contemporary urban youth, using self-documentation and digital imagery as primary mediums. Characterized by direct flash, high-saturation tones, and simulated film grain, her aesthetic constructs immersive emotional landscapes. Notably, in most of her personal art projects, she predominantly employs CCD cameras—deliberately choosing "non-professional" equipment—to create a distinctive visual language that bridges digital and analog photography. Her multidisciplinary practice spans photography, digital art, installation, and electronic music, adopting pluralistic perspectives to craft fluid visual narratives.
From City Rental Project (later published as the photobook City Blue) to subsequent series Riverside Playground, Flowing Room, Shanghai Illusion, and Derailed Emotions, her work serves as an extension of her lived experiences: interrogating desires and urban existence, capturing the liminal state of marginalized youth, documenting nomadic metropolitan life, reflecting on pandemic-induced disorientation and fragile social connections, and translating emotional consciousness into digital visualizations. Her current bi-local existence between Shanghai and London has further inspired new investigations into feminine identity and diasporic communities.
Chen's work has been featured in marie claire, HAO, men's uno, NYLON, and Tencent News' Guyu Lab, and exhibited at Beijing's Three Shadows Photography Art Centre, Pingyao International Photography Festival, London's Indra Gallery and Window Gallery. She held a solo exhibition at Shanghai's Yell Space in 2021 and received the 2022 PIP China Photography Promotion "Kunpeng Award". Her photobooks are collected and distributed by institutions including Three Shadows and Mabi Company, with presentations in art spaces and fairs across Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Quanzhou, Tokyo, Paris, and London.
陈雪玲是一位活跃于伦敦与中国之间的视觉艺术家、摄影师。她曾作为独立时尚摄影师在上海生活和工作，现为中央圣马丁 MA Fashion Image 在读学生。她的作品来自于她不同阶段的生命体验，穿梭于私密与公共之间，以影像叙事探讨城市游牧、女性身份与空间情绪之间的复杂关系。
自2017年起，她以自我体验与数字图像为媒介，展开一系列关于漂泊、情感记忆与当代都市年轻人亲密关系的创作。她擅长通过直闪，高饱和色调和模拟胶片质感建构情绪场域. 在她的大部分艺术项目中，她几乎只用ccd这种非专业设备进行拍摄，创作介于数码和胶片之间的图像语言。她的艺术实践横跨摄影，数字艺术，装置与电子音乐，以多元化的视角构建“流动”的视觉叙事。
从《城市出租计划》（后出版为摄影集《City Blue》）到《Riverside Playground》《Flowing Room》《Shanghai Illusion》《Derailed emotions》等系列作品，正如她所言，她的作品跟她的生活是一体的，从对欲望的困惑和对城市生存空间的反思，到边缘青年群体的迷茫状态，到都市游牧般的生活，到在疫情时期的茫然处境和对弱社交的反思，到将对情绪的感知通过数字生成可视化。如今在上海和伦敦两地的生活也激发了她关于女性身份和异国群体的一系列新的创作。
她的作品曾被《marie claire》 《HAO》《men’s uno》《NYLON》及《腾讯新闻-谷雨实验室》报道和刊登，曾亮相与北京三影堂摄影艺术中心和平遥国际摄影大展，伦敦Indra gallery和伦敦Window Gallery, 并于2021年在上海Yell Space举办个人摄影展，曾获2022PIP中国摄影推广计划鲲鹏奖。个人摄影集被三影堂,麻痹公司等空间和机构收藏和代理销售，呈现于在北京/上海/成都/武汉/广州/泉州/东京/巴黎/伦敦等地的艺术空间和艺术市集。
