《Leaving the Garden》 2025

73.9*105mm/105*148mm
100  pages

This series of photographs explores the growth and female identity of women in the Chaoshan region of southern China.

Xueling spent a brief summer with two sisters aged 13 and 15, meeting them six or seven times over three months, documenting their transformation from the beginning of the holidays to their return to school.

Borrowing its name from the Chaoshan coming-of-age ceremony, Leaving the Garden(Dialect: Chu Hua Yuan) reexamines the experiences of female growth and explores the complex state of being caught between love and restraint, tradition and self-awareness.

《Bali Bubble》 2025

90*180mm,80pages

Bali Bubble is a photographic series by Xueling Chen, continuing her long-term exploration of fluid female identities and the emotional atmosphere of spaces.
Shot in Bali — a tropical island that has become a global hub for digital nomads — the project captures women who have chosen a light, self-directed way of living: free, uncertain, yet deeply disciplined and emotionally attuned.

《Luna Park》 2025

148*210mm,86pages

Luna Park is a visual narrative about the lives of Europe’s new mobile generation. In this project, I continue to explore the idea of a “fluid state of living” by photographing portraits of young people I met in London and during my travels across Europe. The series delves into themes of transience, identity, and intimacy, using direct flash and a visual texture that lies between digital and film to capture a state that feels both private and exposed, fragile yet free.
